Who We Are

Small Steps Early Learning Centre is the new name for our fabulous daycare. We opened our doors in 2008 and have been growing ever since.

We believe that a child's early years set the foundation for further learning. We provide a play-based learning experience in a welcoming environment in which children are nurtured and challenged cognitively, emotionally, socially and physically. We facilitate experiences for children to grow, learn and discover in a stimulating environment, allowing children to develop at their own pace.

We are a Fully Licenced facility with a capacity for 84 children. We are inspected by both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, upholding the standards set forth by them. We provide programs for children 3 months - 12 years of age.

We employee RECE's that are certified in First Aid and CPR to provide quality care that meet the cognitive, emotional, social and physical needs of each individual child. Our assistants are individuals that have a genuine interest and experience working with children and in facilitating their development.

We are located in Oak Ridges, off of Yonge St. between King Road and Bloomington Side Road. This makes us the perfect location for busy parents that are accessing the major highways or the transit.

Proud to offer all families over 12 years of experience in the Childcare Industry. Call us now!

HARKAMALPREET

My self Harkamalpreet Kaur. I am from India (Punjab). I graduate from Seneca college. I done two-year of diploma in early childhood education (2024). Throughout my academic journey, I demonstrated exceptional dedication and enthusiasm for learning, immersing myself in the study of child development, pedagogy, and curriculum planning.

During college time, I started working at different places where children go to learn and play. I made sure that the kids were happy, safe, and learning new things every day. During my placements, I used fun ways to teach children new skills and made sure that everyone felt included and loved.

I want everyone to know how important it is to take care of young children. I talk to people and tell them why early childhood education is so important. I also try to learn new things and share what I know with others who take care of kids.

In the future, I aspire to continue helping children grow and learn, with the hope of making further improvements to ensure that all children have a happy and healthy start in life.

Lisa

Lisa ChanHi I‘m LIsa!  I’m a Registered Early Childhood Educator.  It is my honour and privilege to be working for Small Steps Early Learning Centre.  I started my career as an Assistant early Childhood Educator at a Summer camp in the city.  I loved it and continued working there for many years!  Then I decided to go back to school and study Early Childhood Education full time!  I have to admit it was a huge struggle at first.  All the students were half my age.  I was 20 years older then all the students.  I worked very hard day and night, and I was gonna quit many times.  I pushed through and never gave up.  I did graduate and I consider this one biggest accomplishment! Standing on that stage, and holding that diploma was the best feeling!

Since then, I have worked with all age groups, SchoolAgers, Kindergarten, Preschool, Toddlers, and Infants.  My favourite is School Agers, and Kindergarten!  I really enjoy interacting with the children.  Watching them grow and learn everyday.  I want to make a difference in a child‘s life.

It is my passion to work with children.  I have a commitment to provide the best care to the children and provide a nurturing environment for them.  It gives me great pleasure and fulfilment to teach children, and make sure they are happy and safe.  I believe that each child is unique and it‘s my job to let the child learn to their full potential!

Outside of work, I enjoy shopping, music, going out for dinners and lunches with friends and family!  I love the outdoors.  My favourite time of year is Spring and Fall.  I love spring for all the beautiful flowers, and it signifies new beginnings.  I love the the Fall season because of the gorgeous coloured leaves.  The Fall season brings a nice crisp air to the city!  I love to travel and I love sunsets!

I look forward to working with the staff and students here at Small Steps Early Learning Centre!
